With sweeping views over the natural amphitheatre that forms the bay of Funchal, the hotel has occupied its particularly privileged position for a full hundred and fifty years. The apartments and villas are set in a family-owned working Quinta (farm) of just 2 hectares of land, with banana plantations, flowers and cobbled paths. Although it is only a short distance from the centre of Funchal, you will have entered a very private sanctuary that is rarely disturbed by the bustle of the city below.Our studios are extremely spacious with double or twin beds and a generous lounge area. The studios are equipped with a separate bathroom and corridor kitchenette (including microwave oven). The apartments have a full open plan kitchen and a generous lounge area plus seperated bedrooms and bathrooms. All rooms have a sofa bed should you need extra accommodation, and a full size kitchen with conventional gas oven and rings.

Although primarily a self catering facility, Quinta Mae dos Homens offers many of the services and amenities expected from a far larger type of establishment. - Solar heated pool,surrounded by terrace with umbrellas and sunbeds. Beside the pool there is an honesty bar designed to keep you refreshed whilst whiling away those sunny days. - Laundry service at a nominal fee and complimentary iron and ironing board on request. For those winter evenings a heater is available on hire, should you require it. Safes are also available for hire. All accommodation types have direct telephone line and cable television installed. Bathrooms include bath, shower and WC. Hair dryers are fitted in each of the bathrooms. Mini bars are placed in the fridge, in the kitchen of all accommodation types. - Maid service 6 days/week. Sunday day of rest for all! All apartments are provided with linen and towels and are cleaned twice a week. Pool towels are also provided.

How to get there

00.00 km Departing from the Airport, take the Quick Lane (dual carriageway) through several set of tunnels following the sign post pointing Funchal ER101. 13.30 km Start seeing the beautiful view of the bay from Funchal. 14.30 km Leave the Motorway to your right at exit 13 at the indication to Funchal Boa Nova, Palheiro Golf. At the junction turn left, and keep straight on the ER204 road on the direction to Funchal. 14.90 km Pass under a small bridge, following signs to Funchal Boa Nova, drive straight ahead. Pass a church on your right hand and some meters further the entrance to the Botanic Garden also on your right side, keep straight on the main road. 16.20 km After passing a row of shops on the right, a Chineese Bazaar and a Pink House, on your right, with a Palm Tree which seems to grow from its roof, follow the road to the right (sharp bend) and just out of the bend take immediate left down, where you will see a 3.5t warning sign, into Rua da Rochinha. 16.30 km Keep on this road and turn left on the second entrance to Travessa Manuel Alexandre, a small street, in between two high walls, a school on the left and Quinta Mãe dos Homens on the right. Half way along this road you will see a large green gate on your right, ring the bell on the left side of the gate. You have just arrived.
